Graines de Paix Becomes a Signatory of the New 2024 Declaration of the Rights of the Child

A strong commitment to children’s rights and well-being in a rapidly changing world.

On November 20, 2024, in Geneva, the Graines de Paix Foundation played an active role in signing the new 2024 Declaration of the Rights of the Child, becoming an organizing signatory alongside major organizations such as Save the Children, Enfants du Monde, and Terre des Hommes. This role underscores its dedication to upholding revised fundamental rights that address today’s challenges and its commitment to their practical implementation.

A Declaration for the Future

Originally drafted in 1924 by Eglantyne Jebb, this historic declaration has been updated to include essential rights for today’s rapidly evolving context. Among the 10 updated points are:

  • The right to a safe experience in the digital environment, ensuring children’s autonomy and security.
  • The recognition of children’s best interests in technological and biotechnological advancements.
  • Access to child-friendly justice systems, providing specific remedies in cases where their rights are violated.

These updates reflect a collective ambition: to ensure every child grows up with dignity and security, no matter the challenges they face.

A Key Contribution to Transformative Education

By signing this declaration, Graines de Paix reaffirms its role as a catalyst for educational and social transformation. This commitment aligns with its vision: to empower every child to thrive in an educational environment that prevents violence, fosters life skills, and promotes lasting peace.

The organization brings these rights to life through concrete actions in its educational programs, which impact thousands of children, teachers, and parents worldwide every year.

Continuing a Legacy of Advocacy for Children’s Rights

The 2024 Declaration is part of a long-standing tradition of international commitments:

  • 1924: The first Declaration of the Rights of the Child was drafted in Geneva.
  • 1989: The Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted and has now been signed by 197 countries.
  • 2024: A century after the original declaration, children’s rights are being updated to meet today’s needs and challenges.

By signing the 2024 Declaration, Graines de Paix joins this global movement, reaffirming that every child deserves to live, learn, and flourish in an environment that respects their rights.
