"Growing Up in Peace in Lebanon!"
This program, which the Lebanese Minister of Education confirmed in late July, is currently raising funds for its implementation. Its purpose is to support and strengthen a school system that has been severely shaken by past and current conflicts in the region.
Program Objectives:
To train and guide teachers in the country to:
Prevent the different forms of violence suffered by students and teachers: physical violence, incivility, mockery, harassment, discrimination, and exclusion;
Increase the academic success of their students through the establishment of a safe and motivating learning environment for all; and
Strengthen their civic responsibility and their skills to live in peace in order to cement social cohesion and the advancement of the country.
The Evening
The animated film "The Prophet" is inspired by the work of the same name by Khalil Gibran. Translated into 40 languages, The Prophet was adapted to the screen in 2014 and produced by Salma Hayek, an actress committed to diversity, the prevention of violence against women and education for the poor. The evening will continue with a dinner featuring traditional mezze accompanied by Lebanese wines.
Quotes from Khalil Gibran:
"The whole earth is my homeland and humanity my family "
"Your children are not your children (...) They come through you but not from you, and although they are with you, they do not belong to you."
